Over there!

It was suprisingly cold on Inle first thing in the morning. Not surprisingly really, given how far north it is and that I was there in winter. Still, it caught me unprepared. The only piece of warm clothing I had was a very thin fleece - not quite enough when we were [...]

Richard & Gael’s Wedding Photos

I have finally completed editing these images.  It took FAR too long, completely my own fault as I started playing with white balances, doing too much processing and generally making things more complicated than necessary.  Big lesson learned - trust the automatic white balance of the D3, it is VERY accurate!  I’ll put up some [...]

More Worcester Crew

Freya, Pete and baby Lara, Superman takes a holiday, Jen and baby Edith, Lolita and Jen and baby Edith again. Took a lot of baby pictures…

Worcester Crew

Some of the guys from Worcester College that came over from for the wedding.  Martin and baby Edith, Piers, Jenny, Vinny and Lizzy with baby George.  Really fantastic to see them all again, been far too long in some cases.  And nobody ever changes!

A Few More…

A couple more images. The location, Iles Aux Moines, and the local pub, Chez Charlemagne. Very fine place indeed!

A Few Wedding Images

The bride, the groom and their daughter. I’ve been doing some processing with these - dropping the saturation, tweaking colours and adding a vignette mainly. Not 100% sure I will keep them as they are, but its always worth an experiment. I’ll send them over to the newly weds - if they [...]

Another Experiment…

Not really inspired by anything in particular, more a product of my obsession with Buddha images that developed during my trip to Myanmar in February. Best viewed large again - click on the image.

Bloggers Unite for Human Rights - Myanmar

In the aftermath of Cyclone Nargis, the eyes of the world are focused on Myanmar. Rather than comment on the government of this country, I would just like to remind readers that it is the PEOPLE of Myanmar that makes this remarkable country what it is.
Please take some time to read through the links [...]

Inle Lake & the Intha - Myanmar Pt. 1

Hidden away in the southern part of Shan state, Myanmar, stretches a remarkable shallow-water lake. Famous for its mirror-like surface, dense marshes and stunning temples, Inle is home to the Intha, the ‘Sons of the Lake’. These fishermen and farmers originally lived in Southern Myanmar, but probably migrated to the area in the [...]

Life on the Mekong

From the border of Thailand, it’s two days down the Mekong to Luang Prabang. All the tourists are herded on to long boats rather than the speedy motor boats, ostensibly for safety reasons. I suspect it has more to do with the fact that the vendors on the long boats make some serious [...]
