James Nachtwey, XDR-TB
Take a look at this gallery at xdrtb.org. The photographer, James Nachtwey, was awarded a TED prize in 2007 and used this to document the spread of extremely drug-resistant TB, particularly amongst HIV/AIDS patients. Pretty strong images which, in my opinion, sum up what photojournalism is all about.
Photographers take pictures of nouns - places, people and things. Photojournalists capture verbs - ‘kicks’, ‘explodes’ or ‘cries’. And in the case of many talented photojournalists, they do it beautifully.
