Darth Vader Goes Diving…
Diving is not a pretty sport!
I’ve just returned from the Raja Ampat Islands and Manado, shooting for our ‘Reef’ project. Raja Ampat was remarkable - stunning reefs and huge amounts of fish life - but we had bad weather and visibility for the entire trip.
This shot is a self-portrait taken in ‘The Passage’, a narrow channel of water that separates Waigeo and Gam Islands. The site is famous for wide-angle shots of seafans and soft corals, lit up by rays of sunlight and with a backdrop of overhanging mangrove trees. Unfortunately because of the rain and clouds, we weren’t getting what we wanted so Roger stayed on whilst I traveled to Manado in Sulawesi to shoot in the sea grass beds that can be found along the coast south of town. The weather was terrible with huge amounts of rain and terrible visibility in the shallows, but at least I could get some useful macro. Take a look at the gallery here.
